On Nov. 26, 2024, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) posted a Federal Register notice designating Lebanon for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for 18 months, from Nov. 27, 2024, through May 27, 2026.
This designation allows eligible Lebanese nationals (and individuals having no nationality who last habitually resided in Lebanon) to obtain TPS if they have resided continuously in the United States since on or before Oct. 16, 2024, (“continuous residence”). They also must have been physically present in the United States continuously since Nov. 27, 2024 (“continuous physical presence”). DHS estimates about 11,000 individuals will be eligible for TPS under the designation of Lebanon.
Lebanon’s 18-month designation will go into effect on Nov. 27, 2024, and individuals must also prove their continuous physical presence in the United States since the date provided in the Federal Register notice. The Federal Register notice explains how to apply for TPS and for an Employment Authorization Document.
