Immigration courts have increased the number of decisions and asylum denials. Immigration judges across the country made a record 67,406 asylum decisions last year. 70% of those decisions in asylum cases were denials. Some immigration lawyers are not surprised by the trend. One said that the law has been changed so that “those who previously qualified might not anymore.”
