14 human rights groups demanded that ICE released all LBGTQ and HIV-positive detainees, since the government has shown that it will not provide enough medical and mental health care. The groups also insisted that ICE cancel contracts with privately-run detention centers that also treat LGBTQ and HIV-positive detainees inadequately. The letter also calls for ICE to have medical staff competent in LGBTQ issues and for there to be timely medical screenings.
